Minor Bantam Marlboros Capture Motown Cup

2005 Marlies went undefeated over 6 games to capture the Championship in Detroit this past weekend. The team saw huge performances from team captain Angus Macdonell, forward Colby Barsy, and an outstanding performance in the finals by goalie Joey Costanzo.

The finals saw the two top ranked teams in North America battle for the trophy with the Marlies and Chicago Mission meeting up and created a wild back and forth game. Down 3-2 with 10 seconds left in the third and short handed everyone was able to witness Angus Macdonell go end to end while on the kill to tie the game.

Overtime was at a stalemate and after 5 minutes of 4 on 4 the game reached a shootout. Goalie Joey Costanzo put on a show stopping 9 straight penalty shots. Ultimately Alex Stephens scored on the Marlies 9th try to secure the Championship.
