Toronto Marlboros Hockey Club are wearing camo jerseys for the next three weeks to acknowledge the courage and sacrifice of our Canadian military from the past and present.
This year, our focus has been on the 75th anniversary of D-Day and Canada’s role at Juno Beach in Normandy, France and the story of Private George Baker whose image is on the commemorative 2019 loonie. Learning about Canada’s military role in the past and present gives players, staff and families some understanding of the sacrifice made for our peace.
Our presentation ends with a song by Terry Kelly from Newfoundland, “A Pittance of Time”.
In Peace may they rest, lest we forget why they died. Take a pittance of time.
Our players are encouraged to ACKNOWLEDGE and REMEMBER to give THANKS to the military and their families who have sacrificed and continue to SACRIFICE so much.
