2012 OHL Draft

Toronto Marlboros Connor McDavid and Roland McKeown Provide One-Two Punch as 5 Marlboro Players Selected in the First Round of The 2012 OHL Priority Draft
The Toronto Marlboros are proud to announce that Connor McDavid and Roland McKeown were the top two picks in the 2012 OHL Priority Draft. McDavid, who was granted exceptional status by Hockey Canada, was the 1st pick overall being selected by the Erie Otters. In Erie he will join two former 1994 Marlboros, Connor Brown and Adam Pelech. Roland McKeown, the top defenseman in the draft, was selected 2nd overall in the First Round by former Toronto Maple Leaf great, Doug Gilmour’s Kingston Frontenacs; giving the Marlboros the top two selections. Highly touted Joshua HoSang followed closely behind going to Windsor Spitfires at number five. McKeown won’t be alone in Kingston as the Frontenacs selected Marlboro teammate Samuel Bennett with their pick at number nine.
Marlboros assault on the First Round however did not end there. Shortly thereafter, Jeremiah Addison was selected by Saginaw Spirit at number twelve. This brought the total of First Round picks for the Marlboros to five; one more than the previous number in 2005 when John Tavares, now playing with the New York Islanders, was selected first overall from the Marlboros. Both the 2009 and 2010 Draft also saw four Marlboros picked in the First Round.
As the Draft continued Marlboro players were in high demand. The Second Round saw three more players selected; Jaden Lindo, 4th Overall, Daniel Desousa, 9th and Jared Walsh 16th. By the end of the day, a total of fourteen Marlboro 1996 born players who played Minor Midget and one 1996 who played Midget were drafted. Certainly an outstanding year, Congratulations!
